Kabwila for more civic education on Malawi 2063
Minister of Higher Education Jessie Kabwila has emphasised the importance of educating Malawians about the key pillars of the Malawi 2063 to ensure that everyone understands them.
She said this on Tuesday in Lilongwe during the Malawi Development Trajectory and Capacity Building dialogue with outgoing National Planning Commission (NPC) director general Thomas Chataghalala Munthali.
The minister said there is a need to consider allocating funds for civic-educating people about the Malawi 2063.

Said Kabwila: “We need to make people understand this Malawi 2063 by use of sign language, Braille and local languages to increase implementation in every district.”
Malawi School of Government (MSG) professor Louis Dzimbiri said there is need for collaborative efforts from various stakeholder engagements with the public and private sectors and non-governmental organisations to accelerate progress of various innovations.
He said: “Civic education is very important to take a leading part, this is why we decided to come up with a dialogue for a start to share what the government wants to achieve and needs to be accomplished in the Malawi 2063 vision.”
In his remarks, Munthali stressed that the need for innovation to fast track the agenda, particularly in sectors like mining, agriculture, and tourism
“Our growth has been stagnant for a long time, averaging only around two percent, whereas we aspire to achieve around 6 percent or higher.
“We need to enhance our capacity to drive growth. As such, our efforts must be prioritised towards sectors that can generate resources quickly,” he said.
The Malawi 2063 vision aims to transform Malawi into a wealthy and self-reliant industrialised upper-middle-income country by 2063.
