Kamuzu Academy (KA) teams won their matches in the Game Street Junior Basketball League at Africa Bible College Malcolm Gymnasium, in Area 47, Lilongwe.

KA ladies beat ABC Ladies 37-26 in the first game of the season to set the pace in the Under-18 girls league whereas KA boys whipped Mount Sinai 71-41.

The boys played in two halves of 20 minutes each.

KA boys put up a splendid performance to overcome the 34-31 first-half deficit. They started the game on a low pace. After 13 minutes, they trailed 25-11.

In the second-half, KA took the game to their opponents. Gelestino Limburu, Jeff Malosin and Prince Chanje caused havoc with their quick breaks and their assists were superb.

They completely put Mount Sinai under siege.

KA posted 14 baskets to lead 48-34 six minutes into the half.

Mount Sinai retaliated through Hope Msiska, Yamiko Kasakatira, Paul Philemon and Mphatso Mmangisa in an attempt to restore the lead.

However, KA defence of Frank Manjawire, Nelson Tomoka and Alex Matambo was just too strong.
In another result, Lilongwe Academy collected full points, beating ABC Boys 54-46.

Meanwhile, Game Street, who are sponsoring the league for the second season, have hiked the sponsorship from K200 000 to K350 000.

Cezobal chairperson Kingsley Gwaza hailed the sponsors for extending the romance with the league. He said it shows how geared the sponsors are in developing basketball in the region.
