Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) president Isaac Kaneka on Saturday retained the top seat unopposed during elections held at Capital City Motel in Lilongwe.

This means Kaneka will head the association for the next two years.

The annual general meeting (AGM) started with a carnival from Civic Centre sponsored by Candlex Limited, who provided one hundred branded T-shirts.

The elections that were presided over by Ruth Mzengo of Malawi National Sports Council, saw Blantyre and Districts Darts League (BDDL) scooping four out of five positions.

Only the position of treasurer went to Lilongwe and Districts Darts League (LDDL).

Mike Mazengera scooped 28 votes while Brave Chirwa received 20 votes.

The post of vice-president, which fell vacant after Dean Pinto resigned, went to former treasurer Duncan Karim who got 25 votes.

Karim beat Leston Kawalika and Thom Kachali, who got 19 and 15 votes respectively.

Joe Zangazanga of LDDL’s Capital Glass failed to retain the post of general secretary.

He got 22 votes against Kelvin Nyirenda’s 28 votes.

Charles Katola was re-elected national tournament director with 32 votes, his rival Chipiliro Mzanda got 17 votes.
