Minister pledges quality healthcare

Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has expressed optimism on the progress of construction of health posts in the hard-to-reach areas in the country.

She said health posts such as Kambale in Neno District and Lomola in Thyolo District will be operational by November 1 this year.

Chiponda: The ministry is committed

Chiponda said this on Thursday during inspection of the construction of some of the health posts in the Southern Region.

She said: “The health posts will be bringing medical assistance to those who need it.

“The ministry is committed to ensuring that even the most vulnerable areas, hard-to-reach, have access to quality health services, “ she said.

Chiponda, however, tipped traditional leaders on the tour on the importance of respecting land boundaries between the communities and the health posts.

“We urge the chiefs to educate their subjects to refrain from taking hospital land, stressing the trend restrains our commitment to expand and upgrade these facilities, “ she said.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Tambala of Dedza District thanked the minister for the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare services are available in hard–to-reach areas.

Government pledged to construct 900 health posts to promote access to health services.

The Global Fund committed K4 billion towards at least 55 health posts while the government will provide K9 billion.
