The outfits are ready. The judges are set. The hair and makeup artist is fired up. The girls cannot wait to battle it out. And the entertainer, artist Patience Namadingo is set to give out his best. This is the Central Region Miss Malawi finals slated for Saturday at Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) from 6pm.

According to Miss Malawi organising committee spokesperson Africano Phiri, the contestants will be in camp from Friday at Riverside Hotel in Lilongwe.

“The girls will undergo some final coaching sessions. They will also have their hair done,” he said.

Phiri said the event will have four categories which are beach, national, casual and evening wear where the girls will be assessed on their confidence, catwalk skills and beauty.

“There will also be question time which is a crucial aspect of the contest as we do not only focus on beauty but also brains,” he said.

On entertainment, the event will be spiced up by a performance from Namadingo.

The musician told The Nation that he is excited to perform at the event.

“It is already a wow event and I will make sure I add the right touch to it all. Malawians should expect nothing but the best from me,” he said.

Tickets for the show are selling at K8 000 for standard and K10 000 for VIP.

Ten girls are set to participate in the regional finals to identify finalists from the region. n
