Mighty Mukuru Wanderers say they will not shield indisciplined supporters as part of the club’s drive to restore sanity.

The club’s board president Thomson Mpinganjira, who doubles as board chairperson, said this in an interview yesterday after the club’s supporters committee withdrew its letter of protest to the board secretary Chancy Gondwe over the club’s decision to distance itself from disciplinary charges levelled against it.

Mpinganjira: Errant supporters will not be tolerated

He said: “As Wanderers, we will deal with supporters indiscretions decisively and we will never shield anyone.

“Sponsorship and brand image will drive our actions.Errant supporters will not be tolerated.”

Apparently, the supporters committee has also apologised to the board after learning that Gondwe got the instructions from Mpinganjira.

The club’s supporters committee chairperson Dinesi Chitsulo yesterday confirmed the supporters committee’s apology and withdrawal of the letter.

He said: “The issue has been sorted out amicably and we understand and appreciate that the path that the board is taking, is for the good of the club.”

Football Association of Malawi levelled the charges against the Nomads board for the acts of some supporters during their recent Airtel Top 8 quarter-final first leg against Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Nomads were charged with bullying their opponents during the match and bringing the game into disrepute.
