Pasuwa says BB not yet there
FCB Nyasa Bullets coach Kallisto Pasuwa says despite their clean sweeping of trophies on the domestic scene, the People’s Team are not yet there.
The Zimbabwean gaffer said in an interview there is still a lot to be done to transform the side into a formidable team on the continent.
“We can only measure our strength in tournaments like the [CAF] Champions League, otherwise the team is still work in progress,” he said.
“[Locally], we have set standards, but when it comes to Champions League, we get a real test because that is a different level and in Champions League when you make one mistake, then you are gone.
“So, we need to sit down and see how we can strengthen the team.”
Bullets legend Kinnah Phiri said having swept all silverware, the People’s Team have nothing to prove on the local scene.
He said: “What they achieved was remarkable, but they now need to aim high by targeting success at continental level.
“They need to keep up the momentum by exorcising the ghost that has been haunting them in CAF Champions League.”
In their last five attempts, Bullets failed on four occasions to make it past the first hurdle in the elite African club showpiece, but last year, they reached the second preliminary round in which they lost 5-0 on aggregate to TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ironically, the last time they reached group stages of the tournament was in 2005 under Kinnah’s tutelage.
