Silver Strikers have outwitted FCB Nyasa Bullets in the chase for Blue Eagles blossoming forward Christopher Gototo.

The People’s Team appeared favourites to sign the player, having agreed personal terms, but in a sudden twist to the issue, the Malawi Police Service side has  agreed transfer terms with the Central Bankers.

Has agreed a three-year deal: Gototo

In an interview yesterday, Eagles general secretary Benjamin Msowoya confirmed that the club’s management settled for Silver.

He said: “We offered both teams a chance to talk to the player and also make offers.

“Bullets were offering K3 million as transfer fee, saying he  was still in the developmental stages while Silver were offering K5.5 million. They [Silver] are also offering the player better terms and he is happy.

“Therefore, we have agreed the terms and we’ll proceed with the deal.”

On his part, Silver chief executive officer Patrick Chimimba said: “We have agreed personal terms and a transfer fee with the club. In a few days time, we should finalise everything.”

Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga refused to comment on the matter yesteday.

Meanwhile, Bullets are reportedly close to finalising Civil Service United midfielder Lloyd Aaron’s deal.

The Civil Servants’ general secretary Edgar Chipalanjira was quoted by Zodiak Broadcasting Station yesterday as having said  they have agreed on a K10 million transfer deal plus three players.

“We allowed Bullets to engage the player on personal terms and we have agreed on the transfer fee plus three players. So, that is where we are,” he said.

But Chigoga again declined to comment.
