Big Bullets recovered from the bad form that has dodged them in the Super League to win the Luso TV Clash of Giants Sports Bonanza after beating Mighty Wanderers 4-3 in post-match penalties at Civo Stadium yesterday.

The match was watched by an overflowing crowd that included Minister of Youth and Sports Enoch Chihana and Luso TV managing director Symon Kendall.

Cuthbert Sineta and Kondwani Kumwenda were the villains for Nomads. Sineta missed his penalty while Kumwenda’s was stopped by Owen Chaima. Victor Mpinganjira, Mike Kaziputa and Idrissa Walesi converted theirs.

Fischer Kondowe, Brown Mizeyi, Douglas Chirambo and Henry Kabichi scored for Bullets while Samson Chonde shot straight into Bester Phiri’s palms.

Chaima replaced Gona in the 86th minute strictly for the penalty shoot-outs.

Just like on Saturday against Silver Strikers, Diverson Mlozi again failed to utilise two clear chances supplied by ever-green Heston Munthali in the first-half.

The first came barely a minute into the half, a perfectly timed cross from Munthali found Mlozi in the box, but he failed to slot the ball in the net though unmarked.

Mlozi was at it again five minutes later. He cleverly outpaced Bongani Kaipa in the box, but failed to beat Phiri in one-on-one situation sending agony into Bullets fans.

Mpinganjira fluffed Wanderers’ clear chance in the 77th minute.

Bullets coach Eddington Ng’onamo said his side deserved to win.

“We played some fantastic football today. We were first on the ball and controlled the pace of the game,” said Ng’onamo.

His counterpart Stuart Mbolembole said they are not disappointed to lose.

“Penalties are unpredictable,” he said.

In an earlier match, Epac FC beat Silver Strikers 3-0.
