Katawa Singers launch 9th album
Mzuzu based gospel giants Katawa Singers will this Sunday join hands with fellow Christians at Katawa CCAP main Hall in Mzuzu in a live performance to launch its ninth album called Yesu ndi Thanthwe Lolimba.
Thomas Lupeska, one of the group’s leaders confirmed this in an interview on Wednesday on the sidelines of giving an update on the new release.
Yesu ndi Tanthwe Lolimba comes in just a year after the release of another powerful composition, Muwadabweand it has a mixture of Chitumbuka and Chichewa lyrics. Other hits in the album, Tiyimbire Hosanna andMutivikirire which is in Chitumbuka.
“We will be back on stage this Sunday and I am promising our fans that we have planned a memorable performance. Yesu ndi Thanthwe Lolimba is an album which exposes a new dimension we have taken in our music journey. It is not a complete rebrand but there are many new elements that will be spotted in our music for the first time. The idea behind is to be relevant to our audience and give them new varieties in our music, “he said.
Apart from that, he says the album exposes various talents they adopted from their recent trips to Kenya where they participated in international choral festivals. After the launch, Lupeska says the group will begin a national tour that will take them to Zomba, Blantyre and Lilongwe with live shows.
