A 31-year-old police officer Ernest Masiku stationed at Mchinji Police Station is on remand at Maula Prison for allegedly burning his three-month-old child. Mchinji Police spokesperson Moses Nyirenda said on October 8 this year, Masiku arrived home while drunk and started quarreling and fighting with his wife. “While the two were fighting, the wife put her child on the floor and continued fighting. Beside the child, there was a boiling pot of porridge. The man hit the pot and the porridge poured onto the child who was burnt severely,” said Nyirenda.
